Sixth Form go goggle-eyed over Google

I have had previous experience of visiting offices, but Google was a unique experience for me. It would not be an exaggeration or inappropriate to say I could live there! Indeed Google encourages its staff to stay for long periods by having a creative environment. The environment is very open apart from a few private areas if needed.

We started the day by receiving a free breakfast.
If I could describe Google’s canteen in three words they would be; delicious, fun and plentiful. Google’s employees do not only get a free breakfast which could include an omelette, sausages, fruit salad, pastries and smoothies better than the ones you can buy! They also get free lunch and dinner. For me there could not have been a better start to the trip! There was almost too much choice of food to eat.

We were then taken on a tour in which we were shown the offices of the huge team behind Google. One of the features of their work space was definitely the games room where employees can go and chill out in order to recharge their batteries. Some of the many items that were included in this room were the drums and electric guitar, all the game consoles you could think of as well as a pool table and a massive TV.

Another interesting feature of Google are the different themed meeting rooms. We were shown one informal space that had deck-chairs and another meeting room that was a double-decker bus. Working for Google would be everyone’s dream job, if you can get in – the competition is fierce!
