Research carried out by the University of Bristol shows that students who attend summer schools are more likely to gain places at top UK universities. The research identified the "Summer School effect", in which the 76% of students who went to summer school, then on to a top university, compares favourably with just over 55% of students with a similar academic and social background who did not attend a summer school.
